It was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after 500,000 copies were shipped. The album debuted at number eight on the US Billboard 200 chart with 149,000 first week sales but was less commercially successful than Infinity on High. Positive reviews focused on the creativity and various styles touched on, while the more negative reviews expressed concern that the record was overly indulgent.
